When Americans travel for the fall and holiday season, they’d better bring their passports!
Europe and the Middle East are top fall and holiday travel destinations, according to luxury travel network, Virtuoso.
They looked at nearly $41 billion worth of travel bookings for the fall and found people are going to some surprising spots, according to CNBC.
Let’s talk Turkey.
Travel Agent Central reports Turkey has seen the largest uptick of growth in year-over-year bookings, a jump of 310%.
CNBC says it’s a surprising destination because the country struggled to attract visitors after terror attacks in 2016, and keep in mind most of this data was gathered *before the country’s currency crisis.
Another surprising spot is Egypt, up 264%.
Travel Agent Central says the upward trend shows the pent-up demand for this region of the world.
But based on future bookings, here are the top 10 most popular fall and holiday destinations for Americans, according to Travel Pulse.
The usual suspects like Italy and France make the cut.
As a matter of fact, five European countries appear on their list.
Travel Agent Central says Greece was the fastest-growing destination over the summer, and remains on the list for the tail end of the year.
And for some reason, Americans also want to vacation in the United States.
